#DIY Graduation Cap Decorating ! #PrettyPinkGrad

I graduate this Saturday…4 days away. I know I’ve been doing a countdown for so long and now its finally almost here. As I’m studying for my Statistics final, packing up my apartment, and figuring out whats next with my life, I decided to take a break and decorate my graduation cap. I love a good craft project and graduation cap decorating (with a glass of wine) is a great de-stresser! Here’s what I did:

Supplies Needed:

Rhinestones

Decorative Paper

Hot Glue Gun

Hot glue-sticks

Kitchen knife or X-acto knife

Jewel Glue

supplies to decorate graduation cap

1. Turn the decorative paper upside down and center your graduation cap on top of it. Trim the excess border and hot glue the paper to the cap. Let it sit for a few minutes,

2. Once the paper has had time to dry, find the center of the cap where you attach the tassel and cut around the circle.

  3. Outline the edge of the cap with rhinestones. Depending on your paper type, you may need to use the jewel glue or the hot glue. Since, my paper was a glittery un-smooth surface hot glue worked best.

4. Hot glue rhinestones into the center of the hat where you attach the tassel.

Let what you’ve done so far dry overnight.

5. Verify that you have all the letters needed to spell out your name or phrase.

6.  Arrange your letters how you want them placed. Don’t push them all the way because you will most likely need to re-arrange them.

7. Once you have arranged your letters where you want them to be, you can push them all the way down and add hot glue around the edges for extra reinforcement.

8. Then you are done! Let it dry completely before wearing. You can spray sealant to keep everything in place.

Graduation is such a big deal and I hate we have to wear those awful outfits, but I will surely stand out with this pink, glittery, rhinestone graduation cap! I’ve made a Pinterest Board with lots of ideas for decorating your graduation cap, hopefully you will be inspired!
