My Tax Free Weekend Find!

This weekend was tax- free weekend in Texas, which means there is no tax on clothes, back to school items, and other necessities needed around this time. Generally, I’m excited about tax free because it gives you the added feel of getting a good deal. But this year it was a rainy mess and the lights kept turning off in the stores, I was so not motivated to shop for myself. My 12 year old twin sisters did clean up well at Kohl’s as they were able to get a couple pair of skinny jeans, patterned leggings, and some cute t-shirts for just about $80 for both of them combined. Kohl’s did have some great discounts on top of the tax-free for the kids…not so much in the adult sizes.

I never really planned on going shopping because the traffic around Houston coupled with the weather was definitely not worth the tax-free discount. However, my mom begged me to come along with her as she shopped for my little sisters. I never went home after my Houston Doll society meeting, so I definitely wasn’t dressed for  shopping.

I kept having to take breaks because I was wearing high heels. I’m pretty sure some of the people were upset that I was sitting in the sill of the mirror, but Kohl’s needs to get some benches…those dressing rooms should have waiting areas for those who can’t stand for long!

If you didn’t know, I’m a Barbie Collector. I collect  Barbie dolls and Barbie accessories and apparel. I was so happy to see this watch at Kohl’s. I was normally $48, which is not bad, but not necessarily spectacular either.  Kohl’s was running a 20% discount on watches and jewelry, which bought the watch down to $38.40. Then my mom applied for a Kohl credit card and they took an additional 30% off just for applying. After the tax free discount my watch was $26.88! This watch would have been over $50 had it not been for the awesome sale! Although, I didn’t leave with a basket full, I’m super pleased with my tax-free find!
What kind of sales did you guys encounter this weekend?

  1. Love your watch. I found some cute red shorts but mostly bought shoes and clothes for the boys. I like the dress you modeled also 🙂
