Dear Senior Year,
Why are you so mean? This is my fourth year in college and I swear I have never felt this way about school. I’ve had so pretty hard classes and never have seriously contemplated dropping out of school until now. My classes this semester aren’t that hard…I mean math isn’t my strong subject, so I have to work at Finance and Statistics, but, I’m completely overwhelmed. My mom thinks its because I’m taking 19 hours. But I’ve taken 17 and even 18 hours other semesters, and I’ve been perfectly fine–in fact, semesters I’ve taken a higher course load, I made my best grades. My grades are fine now, but I’m tired. I stay up all night trying to do my homework while also watching shows, maintaining a social life and keeping up with my blog. Oh, yeah, my poor blog has been getting like no love. I can count on both hands the number of post I’ve done since school started–it’s so sad. Did I mention I have a job too? Chile….
I’m so confused. Why would I wait until senior year, to have actual homework assignments. Like real homework—not something that takes half an hour, I’m talking hours per assignment! I signed up for an online class, because I thought it’d be easy. Tell me why, test are 30 questions long…all essay! Excuse me? What is life! It literally takes me the entire week to complete the test! I removed myself from all leadership roles that I help in student organization, to focus on actually graduating, but I’m even more stressed out now then when I was leading these organizations.
And what about the actual process of applying for graduation? Omg, I didn’t even know you had to apply! And then you have to pay to apply! And order announcements. And order a cap and gown. And get all your honor cords. And attend mandatory meetings. And take pictures. Luckily, I don’t graduate until May, so I have time. Except I don’t! I checked my planner today and it’s 5 weeks left in the semester! I still have a group project that we haven’t started! Time is going by so fast!
I just want to lay in bed and watch Bravo all day. I’m generally a morning person, but my alarm clock going off has begin to actually sound like a lullaby (Trey Songz is singing) and I can sleep right through it.
Whatever, you don’t care. I’m just going to keep on dealing with senioritis the best way I know how. That includes having an emotional breakdown at least two times a week, drinking a strawberry daiquiri once before bed and once in the morning, and watching unhealthy amount of reality TV.
Thanks for you know…whatever.
Signed,
I’m a senior…Yay?

Girl you sound like me a few years ago and I know the feeling!!!
It was like my last semester and I was so over it!! I was like I never want to go to school AGAIN! Thank God for a major that does require me to get my masters or attend med school or law school I would freak! I don’t see how people keep going to school until they are like in their 30s.
Hang strong I know it’s annoying and long, and yes you gotta go through an entire process to graduate but it will all be over soon. What’s you’re major?
Good luck!

I’m in the homestretch of fall semester…it’s getting real! Lol
I am a college administrator and I have to say Sr. Year is difficult for all the reasons you stated and more. But you have made it this far and you WILL make it through this. Keep your head up, take time for you, get work done and just keep on going! You got this!
Just think about graduating!
