I’ve been a bad blogger. Last month my little piece of the internet turned 2 years old on the 12th. I’ve been off my game with my blog, because it’s my final year in school and Statistics is so freaking hard! I’ve already fallen short of my 2014 goals by not blogging every day so far, but that’s okay because I’m human! 2 years ago, I wrote my very first blog post introducing my crazy self to the world. I never would have thought that my blog would grow so much, but it has and it’s so beautiful to see! When I first started writing here, I intended on just sharing cute outfits with my camera phone (bahaha), but that didn’t last, I started sharing different parts of my life. So I became not only a Fashion Blogger but a Lifestyle Blogger as well. I changed my name from Taylor Brione: Real Life Black Barbie to My Pretty Pink Life to Pretty Pink Living to reflect my new blog subjects as well as my love of the color pink.
THANK YOU to my dear readers! Your views and comments mean the world to me! You guys are always complimentary about my outfits and the things I’m doing. I really appreciate your encouragement when I share my personal obstacles that I’m dealing with. You guys are awesome! I’ve had the unfortunate opportunity to receive some trolly, disrespectful comments, that I either ignore or ban (if its super inappropriate), but the overall positivity from the majority of my readers make writing on Pretty Pink Living such a joy! My blog has helped me to grow! When I started this blog I was 19 years old and I’m now 21! This is such an important time in a young woman’s life and I’m glad to not only have friends and family but this blog as well to help me as I mature!
Here are some things I’ve learned through the blog:
1. Blogging is a lot of work. I have to come up with post ideas, take pictures, edit them, write the post, and publish it. Sometimes if I’m attending an event or working on a sponsored post, the deadlines can be unreal. I’m not a full time blogger, I have at least 2 jobs at a time, I’m a student, and I have a social life, so blogging has definitely helped with my time management.
2. I’m a perfectionist and my own worst critic. When I wrote the “Confessions of A Perfectionist” Post on my blog, I was so nervous that people would judge me or think differently of me, but of course, y’all didn’t and you provided encouraging words. I’m still working on the perfectionist thing…I didn’t notice how bad it was a first…until it’s in black and white (and pink) on the world wide web. Lol
3.I do the most! People tell me I’m extra all the time and I am extra–EXTRAordinary! But sometimes I can go overboard with doing to much that I can make myself sick. Sometimes doing the most isn’t that good. I haven’t toned down doing the most…but I’ve made time for myself so that I can be at my best at all times!
4. Haters are gonna hate…and they can’t read either. When I started this blog, so many people in real life and online were like, “That’s wayyyyy to much information about you on the internet.” They see a post title and be like , “I can’t believe she is writing about this!” I even had one girl at school come up to me and say that she was concerned that a post I wrote would make a professional organization that I’m a part of look bad! Ha! They thought I was making myself unemployable and a target to be made fun of. They were kinda right…I have been made fun of for “over sharing” my life online, for being a grown person obsessed with pink, for being an adult collector, –really just for being me. I’m certainly not unemployable though. In fact, I’ve been able to make money from my blog both through sponsored post and social media management and consulting for others. And understanding social media, analytics, SEO,and all things digital marketing are a hell of a resume boost! “NeNe Leakes Voice:Bloop!!*

Happy blogoversary Taylor! I understand the going overboard. Sometimes we have to learn to say no… even to ourselves.

Yes! Sometimes it’s easier to say no to others than it is to say no to ourselves!
