DIY: Pink Cowboy Boots

Down here in the grand ole state of Texas cowboy boots (or cowgirl boots for the feminist like me) are a big deal! I mean everyone has atleast pair. I actually have two, a red pair that I thrifited and tan pair that I scored for $9.99 at Ross, that I’ve just painted pink. I’ve always wanted a pair of pink cowboy boots, but I’ve never been able to muster of the guts (or the funds) to purchase a pair. I got the bright idea that I could DIY, my own boots from a site called Alida Makes. Once I saw that someone was successful I knew I had to try…

HOW TO MAKE PINK COWBOY BOOTS

1.Purchase your craft supplies! I won a $25 gift card from Sparkles and a Stove, so I headed to Hobby Lobby to pick up the materials I needed: Mod Podge Sealant, Colored spray paint, Tempera Paint, and Paint Brushes.

2. Stuff the inside of the boots with newspaper.

3. Spray paint one coat of paint onto the boots and let dry for 30 minutes. Then apply another coat. And let them dry overnight. Use a paint brush to smooth out drips and unevenness.

4. My boots had flowers on them prior to me painting them. If your boots have a design on them use your tempera paint to fill it in or do your own design freehand. Let the boots dry overnight.

5. Apply your modge podge and let it dry for about 5 minutes. Who wants pristine cowboys? Put your feet inside and walk around and the Modge Podge seal will crack to make the boots more authentic looking. Apply a second coat of Modge Podge after you do this.

It’s #TransformationTuesday on Twitter and Instagram, so I had to show you guys how I’ve transformed both as a person and how I transformed my boots. Before and After’s are always so fun!

  1. I have yet to invest in some cowboy boots – though my son and my husband both have 2 pair!
I’ve been keeping an eye out at thriftstores and such, I’m hoping to score a pair..at least now I know I can revamp them to whatever I want!

    1. It’s hard to just invest! I rarely wear mine, unless its rodeo season! I got these from Ross and I made them my perfect pair of boots with a little paint and paitence! You can do it too! Thanks for stopping by!

  2. I just saw a pair of cowboy boots all detailed out & $300+ that I wanted. Great idea to paint a pair! Come link up on tomorrow’s link up & share your great idea & diy! Love to have you share & meet my readers 😉
