A Prayer For Connecticut

Silence and Support for Sandy Hook.

On Tuesday, December 18th, there will be a blogger day of silence. We will post the button and that’s it. Please try to not post anything else that day if possible.

We are also raising money that will go to an organization in the memory of this tragedy. The organization is called The Newtown Family Youth and Family Services.

Here is the official description of the support service we are donating to:

“Newtown Youth and Family Services, Inc. is a licensed, non-profit, mental health clinic
and youth services bureau dedicated to helping children and families achieve their
highest potential. NYFS provides programs, services, activities, counseling, support
groups and education throughout the Greater Newtown area.
ANY DONATIONS MADE TO NEWTOWN YOUTH AND FAMILY SERVICES WILL BE DONATED DIRECTLY TO THOSE EFFECTED BY THE SANDY HOOK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SHOOTING.

Please visit THIS PAGE to make your donation.

I’m sorry if this doesn’t make sense. I typed exactly how I felt. If you don’t understand it, I know God does.

Dear God,

Oh, merciful father, help these families who have experienced this tragic loss to cope and mourn this shameless act of violence. Don’t let them surrender themselves to the sorrow that I can’t even fathom. Please allow this act, although, terrible and unnecessary to being them closer to you. God, their children and family members are gone and they may be questioning where you were during this time. But in the end God let them know that everything will work out according to your perfect will.

God, teach the family forgiveness during this time, so that they don’t walk around and harbor these feelings. Fill them up with your spirit God, I know that they are feeling empty God, feel them with your love! Let them know you are here for them no matter what the circumstances, Father you are always near! Father you are just and your judgement is always perfect!

Vengeance is the Lord’s and the bible is says that it is better to tie a stone around your neck and cast yourself into the sea than to cause a child to stumble! So God, I pray for those who have suffered this grave injustice  for those who lost someone important to them, for those whose relationships are destroyed, and heart’s broken. Come close to them God and comfort them in their time of anger and sorrow. And God, I pray especially for the souls of the angels lost yesterday! I pray that they are all in Heaven, sitting at your right hand rejoicing to finally be out of this crazy world God.

God I pray for my family God. So often I take them for granted God, but I thank you for constantly putting a hedge of protection around them and protecting them wherever they are. I pray for America, that we can get closer to one another and work on rebuilding a nation where we all feel safe and secure.

The bible says that you are the father of compassion and the God of comfort and that you will comfort us in our time of need. I trust that you will make this situation right like only you can. Thank you for being my sovereign and supreme savior all the time. I ask all of these things in your precious son Jesus’ name.

Amen
