Last week I had the opportunity to fly to California to participate in the Barbie Collector Advisory Panel. I was one among 8 collectors who were chosen to share ideas and our love of all things Barbie. Unfortunately, there was a lot of security and rules about taking pictures inside the building, so that ideas don’t get out. But here are the pictures that I did happen to take:
Here is my comfortable yet fashionable airplane outfit! I’m wearing alot of Barbie stuff. I’m wearing a black maxi dress from Forever 21, A Barbie Top also from Forever 21, and carrying my Harvey’s for Barbie handbag, and my Also pictured is my adorable mommy, she was so scared to drop me off for my first flight.
Since this was my first time on the plane, I was so amazed! I snapped these shots while up in the air:
We stayed at the Double Tree! And received a warm cookie at check in! When I arrived in my room I had an awesome Barbie gift bag waiting for me! It was full of Snacks and Goodies.
Then I met up with some of the other CAP members where we had lunch and Dinner. Everyone had a glass of wine or beer…I had a shirley temple.
The next day this is what I wore:
This isn’t a good picture, but its a black blazer, with a black Barbie bling tee, black jeans, and my go to Black wedges. Like Plies says, “You know I mean business when I’m dressed in all Black.”
My outfit is pictured better in photos below.
We started off playing a game: Project Dollway. We all designed a Barbie.
This is my Barbie, her name is Glamisha, and her outfit theme is Sparkle!
Glamisha is wearing a sparkly gold top and a black leather mini skirt. She is also wearing Glittery Gold Loubotins…in Barbie Size of course!
Then we had a tour around the the Mattel Facilities. I saw lots of cool stuff. Sorry no photos though! lol
These were my fellow CAP members!
A pink car!
We did get a great discount at the Mattel store….40 percent off!
We got a great goodie bag! Including the Grace Kelly Bride Doll pictured below.
This a Gold Label Collectors Item. It is worth around a $175!!
We went out to dinner later. I wore a blue shirt from Forever 21, with skinny jeans, and these cute blue summer shoes!
This was all the CAP members, our lovely trip coordiantor Steffanie, and Robert Best and Bill Greening–my favorite Barbie designers.
I had a great time! This was a trip of a lifetime and I can never thank everyone at Mattel and Barbie Collector for their great hospitality and welcoming spirit. I love being a Barbie Collector!

Mattel’s Collector Advisory Panel (CAP)is an amazing experience! I was picked in 2005 and your pictures being the only minority in the group brought back alot of memories. My ideas from that experience led the first African American sorority barbie (Alpha Kappa Alpha – AKA in 2008). I met some amazing collectors and we are still friends TODAY and Mattel staff is AWESOME.
Thanks for the GREAT pics and memories. Looks like you had a BLAST!
Being a Barbie collector is AWESOME. !!!! 🙂 Do you go the conventions? I’ll look out for you! The next one(2015) is in Arlington, VA!

I absolutely loved the CAP experience! I haven’t been able to attend a convention yet (college had me broke) but now that I’ve graduated, I’m for sure going to try to attend next year! Let’s keep in touch taylorbrioneATgmail.com 🙂
