Barbie’s First Day Back

Today was the first day of the spring semester and I’m exhausted! Hopefully by the end of this week my body will be back into the swing of things. I had two of my six classes today:
System of Accounts in Hospitality: I was seriously scared to death to be in this class. Its an 8:30am class, but I’m a morning person, so that shouldn’t be an issue.I am terrible in math! When I divide 4 divided by 2, I have to check my work twice! .  We are allowed to use calculators on all test and homework, THANK GOD and there is a tutor in class! We will definitely become good friends! The teacher is kind of nerdy, but in a cute way. He really seems to enjoy accounting…like its kind of scary! He assured that if we knew how to add, subtract, divide, and multiply, that we should do well. But when we took that assessment I seriously doubted him! I mean, I can add, but I don’t know what a balance sheet is! The only journal entries I know are what I write in my diary! The only debit I know is a debit card! All that accounting jargon was scary. I guessed B for the entire exam! Thank God that was just an assessment of what we already knew and does not count toward our grade.
Managing In The Service Environment: This class was all over the place. The teacher was drinking a red bull and acting all crazy. I mean he was funny, but the lecture was over in like 5 minutes. And I don’t even know what it was about. He also tried to talk about politics and told the class not to vote for an incumbent! Umm, I’m going to need him to keep his comments to himself! I respect everyone’s opinion and believe that you should vote how you feel, but don’t try to push your ideas on others. I am a proud Democrat and will be voting Straight-ticket come November. But everyone vote as you wish, as long as you vote. By the way if you aren’t registered to vote and you live in Harris County, let me know and I can get you registered! I am a voter registrar for Harris County only, but if you live in another county, I can give you a form to turn in on your own. So begins my relationship with accounting…let me work on this practice set.
