#DateYoSelf is a new series on my blog where I share fun date ideas for the young, modern, a fabulous young woman to take herself out, have some fun, and make great memories. We all need to treat ourselves sometimes and this my outlet to do so. My first #selfdate was a staycation for one at Hotel Sorella in the Houston CityCentre. Thank you to the team at Hotel Sorella for the complimentary stay in one of the penthouses!
After ending 2015 the way I did (grieving, stressed, sad), I needed to start the year of renewed and refreshed. I took this as an opportunity to lock myself away and get some much needed alone time. (It didn’t turn out to be much alone time as I have two teenage sisters who wanted to go with, I let them…you know so they can have a cool experience too.) When you have a busy schedule like I do, you can’t always hop on a plane and disappear into a far away town, sometimes, you have to just explore whats in your own backyard. Hotel Sorella is 25 minutes away from my house, but it felt like a complete escape.
The Lobby
I love the furniture in the lobby! It’s so mod and chic, not bulky and outdated. The lobby is bright and you feel comfortable sitting on the furniture. There are candles lit in too–you can buy them for your own home, they smell great.
Breakfast
You almost never get a complimentary breakfast for a full-service hotel! When I travel with friends or family, I obsess over having free breakfast. Although, continental, it was yummy and still filled me up. This is one of my favorite things when I travel–breakfast, it’s the only way to start your day off right!
Restaurants
The restaurants are really cute. I ate at Monnalisa before but hadn’t tried the bars inside. They are decorated too cute though. Monnalisa has live music Wednesday through Friday so if you stop by after work you can unwind with a nice drink and meal.

The Pool
I can’t swim but I love to be near this pool. I hadn’t been here in a few years and it was cold when I visited but a pool party there would be SO cute.
The Penthouse
I stayed in the one bedroom penthouse! It was so nice!! It was basically an apartment–full kitchen, full washer and dryer, bathroom, living room–you could just order room service if you wanted! I absolutely loved it here and I may need to book another stay cation here in the future.
Hotel Sorella is a great hotel! It’s not only luxurious but it is also the best value. You are close to shopping and fun and restauraunts, so it’s the perfect place for a weekend stay cation, girls night, or just some alone time. I’m going to update this post with pictures of the standard rooms…they seem to have been lost in cyber space, check back later to make sure you see those rooms too!
