I love my dog. She is like my baby. And like babies, doggies are expensive. Although, Sparkle is indeed a posh pup, sometimes she is a posh pup on a budget, honey! I spend a lot of money on her food, grooming, and toys. I spend roughly $75 a month in buying grain free dog food and treats and another $20 or so on toys that Sparkle completely destroys. I’m always looking for ways that she can be pampered without breaking the bank. I figured out that Sparkle loves toilet tissue rolls…you know the brown part inside of the tissue. She will play with it until she has tore it into so many pieces its not even funny. So I decided to start keeping them and using them as toys. Now, I make several DIY toilet paper roll dog toys full of her dog treats and she absolutely loves them. Here is the simple instructions on how you can make your own.
HOW TO: DIY TOILET PAPER ROLL DOG TOYS
1. Save all the toilet paper rolls you can, they look like trash, but they are really a dogs’ treasure.
2. Cut 1cm slits on both sides of the roll.
3. Fold the slits in to enclose the roll on one side.
4. Fill the other side with dog food or dog treats.
5. Enclose the other side.
6. Watch your dog tear this toy up to get to the treats and be prepared to clean up afterward.
It’s cheaper to use dog food instead of treats. Since you already have the dog food at home, you can just take a handful and scoop into the toy. We use Purina Beyond Natural Dog Food, it’s fairly affordable, just $9.98 for a 3 pound bag. I have a coupon to share that allows you to save an extra dollar or two as well.
It’s sold at your neighborhood H-E-B too, which means you can run and get it at time, as well as other things you need around the house. Like this cute cup, which says Sparkle’s name!
Sparkle has grown accustomed to knowing that those toilet tissue rolls are full of treats and she waits patiently for me to give it to her!

I love how easy and affordable this project is. Too bad our cat already tries to tear toilet paper apart, I’d be afraid she’d take this as a green light to take up old habits. She’s not good as understanding what is for the dog and what is for her. 🙂 #client
