On June 22, 2013 , the Houston Area Urban League (HAUL) celebrated it’s 45th year of services by hosting it’s annual Equal Opportunity Day Gala. The event was held at the gorgeous Hilton Americas Hotel in Downtown Houston.
Last year, Ruben Studdard performed, but this year Archie Bell performed his hit song “Tighten Up”, which was popular the year the Houston Area Urban League was opened. The theme was “Mission Possible” and was bought to life with black and red tuxedo decor and black sunglasses given to all attendees. 
This event is the organizations biggest fundraiser, which netted over $500,000. These funds will continue to help HAUL provide housing, educational, workforce, and job training programs. The event was attended by Houston Area business men and women, politicians, and other high profile individuals. The event was hot! Even Culture Map covered the event.
