Female Empowerment at Cirque Du Soleil Amaluna!

Amaluna-Female-Empowerment-Taylor-Brione

A few weeks ago I attended Cirque Du Soleil’s Amaluna show at the Sam Houston Race Park. I enjoyed the Cirque Du Soleillast time I attended but this year I really enjoyed it. This year I connected with the story because of it being a love story and the femininity it portrayed. After the show was over, I had the opportunity to have a behind the scenes question and answer session with a spokesperson for Cirque Du Soleil she shared the practice schedules and daily activities of the cast. Some of the cast is as young as high school and there are also others who are senior citizens. Thats amazing.

What really intrigued me was the female empowerment aspect of the show. Now, as a feminist, sometimes I find the female empowerment in everything, but it was very interesting to know, that this show was planned around a female empowerment theme. Amaluna was written to showcase the beauty and power of women. While casting, the producers made sure to have an increased amount of female roles and an all female band. I love that.

I’m glad I could take my little sister, Loren with me to the show. She is very into music, theater, and overall performance, so she really enjoyed and was inspired by all these women following their dreams of performance. The show is only here for two more days, so be sure to try to get a last minute ticket if you haven’t seen it yet! It’s definitely something you don’t want to miss.
