I’m not one for the internets–it’s very difficult to type when you don’t have fingers, but today while my human was surfing the web we came across the newest Superbowl commercial from GoDaddy. I always get excited when I see my fellow fur-iends on those screens the human watches but I didn’t really like it this time. The commercial starts with 3 cute pups riding in open air in the back of a pick up truck, one of them (later called Buddy) bounces out of the truck. He then goes on a journey through rocky terrain, speeding cars, the wilderness, and even crossing train tracks, just so he can find his way home. After watching this sad doggie get happy to be reunited with his “owner” (you know my human and I don’t use that word), the owner picks him up and is happy to see him…because she just sold him online. What a disgusting commercial!
Apparently this ad is supposed to be a joke but overbreeding, puppy mills, and overall poor animal welfare isn’t funny to me. I’m thankful that my human cares about me and didn’t purchase me from some loser like “Gabby’s Goldens” who just ships dogs out through some online marketplace. GoDaddy is a large corporation that can use its advertising dollars in a better way. GoDaddy made an additional PSA to encourage the support of rescue shelters and also shared a video about how they adopted Buddy later but the damage is done.
Overbreeding and animal cruelty is no joke and the video should have never been made. If you think this video should be removed, join my human in signing the Change.org petition!
