There was a time when I loved basketball as much as I loved my Barbie dolls, but as I got older (and girlier), I left basketball behind. I’m still a fan of basketball, I don’t enjoy watching it on TV though. I prefer to be up close and personal with the game, but if I can’t attend, I’ll at least check the scores online. The Houston Rockets in conjunction with State Farm Insurance hosted its Hoops and Heels event last week and I’m so glad I was in attendance.
Hoops and Heels was a two day event, on day one we were introduced to some of the women behind the scenes of the Rockets. They spoke about being a female in a male dominated field. We also met the emcee of the Rockets, he is quite hilarious. We were also given a tour of the Toyota center, where we were able to see court-side seating and VIP lounges. And how can I forget…we met one of the coaches, who made us do basketball drills! But the best part of day one was meeting Carlos Delfino…he is hot! (He’s married for all the ladies who are interested) He was very nice and I got his autograph!

I was on the court…a very cool feeling. I wish I would’ve known, we’d be doing activity…I was not dressed right! lol |

Carlos Delfino…he is so tall! |

The next day was the Rockets vs. Nuggets game, unfortunately, the Rockets lost, but I still had a wonderful time! I played a lot in the kids section…everyone’s parents were amazed at this grown woman (me) jumping up and down in excitement about all the games.

They had a giant Rockets themed operation…it actually had sparks! |

I couldn’t get all the way in the slide, but this did make a cute photo op! |

Generally adults don’t make signs in the kids craft area…I did! I always support the cutest guys on the team, Marcus Morris is kinda cute, plus I love his tattoos! lol He was a high scorer that night! Woot! |

I bought along my friend Chelsy. |

Yes! We got a picture with Clutch…to bad his assistant doesn’t know how to use iPhone’s! |

I had a great time…even though I didn’t win any of the giveaways. This was a very cool experience as part of the NBA’s Girl’s Night Out. I’m not going to be trying out for the basketball team anytime soon, but I appreciate getting a glimpse into what some of the players actually do.
What is your favorite basketball team? What about your favorite player?
