How To Dress For A Presentation!

It doesn’t matter where you go to school or where you work at some point in your life you will have to do a presentation. It can be a formal presentation with flip charts and projectors or it can just be you standing and reading your department updates–either way you are presenting information to others.  Here is some outfit inspiration for when it’s your turn to make a presentation.
I’m Vice Chair of the Homecoming Board, Social Chair for the National Association of Catering and Events, Fall Retreat Chair for the Non-Profit Leadership Alliance, and a member of other student organizations as well. With that being said, I have to speak in front of other students a lot of the time. Student organization meetings are a little lax in what you can wear. However, you should still want to look put together. For those of us who have graduated from college, this outfit is perfect for when you have to present in front of your social club.
What to wear During A Presentation

I used to be PR major, but now I’m a Event Management major…both of these majors require a ton of presentations. I mean the smallest topic can be turned into a major presentation. In my classes we are required to dress business casual for our presentations. Some people really push the limit by wearing dark denim or tennis shoes with their slacks–gross! Pair this with some red lipstick and you’ve got an A plus! This outfit is professional yet very stylish, it looks like you care about your grades! For my ladies who have graduated from school, this is perfect if you work in creative fields and need to make a presentation!

Presentation Outfits

Even though I’m in school I work part-time for a non-profit organization. Everyone here is way older than me, which means I must be careful about what I wear. Occasionally, I’m called into meetings and I put my best foot forward with an outfit such as the one below. This perfect for any lady who needs to make a presentation at work!

Presentation Day Tips

-Avoid excessive patterns–I love leopard print, but presenting to your boss about the sales this quarter is not the time to pull out your leopard top. Save that for casual Friday!
-Wear comfortable clothing! There is nothing like watching someone tug on their outfit the entire time they are speaking-it is so distracting! I also included heels in all my outfits, because I’m a high heel kind of girl. If you struggle with keeping your balance wear low heels or flats, and save yourself the embarrassment.
-Wear subtle jewelry. Presentation day is not the  time for chandelier earrings or statement necklaces. You want people to be paying attention to the information you are providing not your jewelry.
-Make sure your pockets are empty-coins/ keys clanking in your pocket…presentation NO-NO!
-Practice!!! I don’t care if you presentation is recite the ABC’s in front of everyone. Practice…you will do a whole lot better!

Public speaking is the biggest fear of Americans! Dressing appropiately and practicing will help you feel a little less nervous. And remember no one ever complains about a presentation being too short!
