Trends from Day One of #NYFW

Tadashi Shoji

New York Fashion Week is hereeeee!! And I’m not there. (Sad face.) I’m definitely following hashtags on Twitter and Instagram, stalking the live feeds when I can, and  I’ve teamed up with Fashion Mingle to receive daily trend alerts so that I can share with you what’s hot at #NYFW!

#NYFW Trends Day One

COLOR-It’s a pretty big change from previous seasons, bright and bold colors have been replaced with whites and neutrals.

FIT – Silhouettes are moving from skinny and tight  to a somewhat loose & fitted look. This  BCBGMAXAZRIA dress below shows  a cinched waist, but overall loose look.

HAIR & MAKEUP – Braids are again very popular. Models at the Nicholas K show wore fishtails and others at Supima wore bun braids. Makeup trends this year include beachy sun-kissed looks and natural looks with subtle lip color.

PRINTS – Prints are always popular! Bold prints return and the trend of mixing prints isn’t going anywhere either.

FABRIC – Sheer fabrics and cut outs are still popular. Lace and leather placements will continue to appear on clothing.

I love the different fabric trends and bold prints! I feel like shopping! What trends are you most excited for Spring 2014?
