I’m a millennial. I got my first email address when we had dial-up internet (brilliantbrione@rr.com). I got my first cell phone in 6th grade. It was the prepaid Nokia kind that you can play snake on. I think I had 200 minutes and 100 text messages-some ridiculous limit, I’d never be able to adhere to now. I’ve had cable all my life. (Thank God my parents weren’t the no TV kind of parents.) I had a Xanga, then a MySpace. Fast forward to now. I’m on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, Google Plus, and Instagram. I have cable, the fastest internet AT&T Uverse offers, a cell phone that does all kinds of cool tricks–and everything is unlimited. I have a laptop, 2 tablets, and have 6 emails that I check multiple times per day. I’ve been connected for almost all of my life. I can’t imagine my life without these things! I tried a month with no cable and limited home internet and it was torture…I was at the library reading books and watching shows online. My cell phone was lost and I couldn’t make it down the street because my phone doubles as my calendar, GPS system, and digital camera.
Whoever invented the tablet is pretty genius. My tablet allows me to do everything I can do on my cell phone (except make calls) and surf the web or update blog post or social media just as I would on my computer. I just switched to a smaller, more lightweight laptop, but it’s still–a portable computer! Ain’t nobody got time for that! The tablet is compact, easy to carry, and concealable.
Some people think millennials are always plugged in–and to a certain extent sometimes we are, however, that’s how we’ve grown up! I seriously can’t imagine life without my techy devices, especially my tablet. It’s more than just a place for me to update my Twitter. It serves as an e-book reader, that saves me from standing in line at the bookstore ordering ridiculously over priced textbooks, I can download notes my teachers send me, I can write and edit documents and save them directly to the cloud and then yes….I can email my friends and make reservations for dinner too. For someone who has grown up with technology, the Samsung tablet allows me to stay connected and get stuff done in all aspects of my life. For some people, mailing checks to pay your bills is easier, but I’d rather schedule an automatic debit…on my Samsung Galaxy tablet. Or just oder my contacts through an app
This is tablet makes life for me much simpler.
What electronics make your life simpler?
