VOTE VOTE VOTE

Tomorrow is election day and if you didn’t participate in early voting then you should be at the polls tomorrow. I personally, didn’t early vote, because I love the excitement of Election Day. I’m super excited about voting in my first presidential election. As informed, opinionated  and active I am in the political process, people often think that I have voted in many  elections…I’m only 20, but I have always made sure that I knew what was going on.  In 2008, I wasn’t old enough to vote but I volunteered for Hilary Clinton first, then the for the Obama Campaign.  I also interned for Bill White, who was the Democratic candidate for governor in 2010 in Texas. That was the first election that I voted in…he lost, but that election really fueled me up about elections and political processes. This election season, I registered people to vote. I was a Deputy Voter Registrar for Harris County and registered over 300 people since April.

This was my first election day; freshmen year at Sam Houston State.

Voting is super important and I believe that if you are eligible to vote, you should participate regardless of your political affiliations.

Here are some reasons you should vote:

  1. Voting is how you voice your opinion. By voting you are letting your elected officials (or future elected officials) what you feel.
  2. Because your children can’t. Think about policies that are being passed and how they affect your children (or others), they can’t vote and they need us to look after them and vote on their behalf.
  3. Because at one point we couldn’t. As a woman…an African-American woman, I know that so many people fought for me to vote, and it would be a shame for me to not vote, just because I don’t feel like it.
  4. It gives you a reason to complain. If you aren’t voting then you can’t complain…enough said.
Have you voted already? Or are you waiting until election day?

  1. bahaha on #4. I so agree with that one. If you vote, then that means you care enough about what happens in your community. If anything goes wrong then you have the right to voice your opinions loudly.
